The best way to improve your English is to read a lot of English books and then try to speak to people who use the language correctly. Try to use correct grammar and not pasar English.

Actually there is no one best way to improve your English
It depends very much on what you need your language skills for

English language contains more than 3 times as many words as Indonesian, and the average native speakers uses something like 100th of the available words in daily conversation and actually only knows
less than a quarter of the available words...

Hence you do need to consider a few things when deciding how and what to learn
1) What subject do you want to learn about?
There is no point reading sci-fi books if u need to know hospitality english
2) Do you want or need to focus on Academic, Social, Literature or Business English?
3) What aspect of the language do you need to improve
a) Comprehension
Use radio, television, meet and talk to native speakers
b) Grammar and Spelling
Read books and write to native speakers and ask them to correct you
c) Vocabulary
Pick your field of enterprise and find literature about that
read it, logon to forums, discuss it etc
d) Conversational English
Nothing what so ever can replace hanging out and chatting with Native speakers
live OS, or live around bule... no choice

I got tips you could try: if you want to improve your English, find something you like in English. Songs, poets, proses, films, etc; anything in English that you like. Try to spell and pronoun every word correctly. Thus, it works for me...

watching tv could also improved ur english, in foreign movie we can get listening and speaking speaking skill, we can also look the writing skill by the meaning displaying in tv, what about vocabulary skill, of course, but i wonder if we could get the grammar skill from movie because the conversation is using speaking language not a writing language.

I believe the best way to improve your English is by reading and making interaction with English native speaker. If it is hard to find a native speaker around, you can start by joining international forum or games forum where you can find people from all around the world. I admit that I improved myself by joining some PTP programs, where we have to be able to write and read in English if we want to earn money, so I have to learn it well...

watching film is the best way..you can improve you accent, learning english deeper, know idioms, slank-version english...
