reading and talking , basically, is coping a different area . one could read well but couldn't communicate it, as reading , well merely you just read , while talking is channeling the ideas that flowing in our head to our mouth.hence, for one to be able to speak fluently, he/she must practice by talking(do not read) to ,well, anyone that understand English so from that point onward one could develop at talking skill ,which require a skill to combine a series of words(vocab n etc) so that they would be in a 'fairly' right position and appropriate grammar in a very short period of time.
piece of advice, start it slow like anyone did.

Well, actually i'm not so good in english too
It just what my friend's advice to me
1. Don't be shy to ask
-> or you will be hardly improving
2. Don't be shy to be tought as a beginner
-> an expert comes from a beginner before
3. Don't be afraid to make mistakes
-> mistakes at this moment avoid you from mistakes in the future.
4. Train more
-> well, it is a must!

I ever read about speaking and listening are related, the title of the book is "earobics" (if I'm not mistaken). The author suggested that in order to speak well, one have to listen well. The reason why he came into that conclusion is because of his long study over children's miraculous learning speed

I've noticed problem among asian to speak english in a proper way. As you can see our mother tongue will make us pronouncing english word in a funny way. So, in asia u can hear people speak indian english, thai english, japanese english etc. The best way is to start from the very beginning and start pronouncing vowels and consonants in a correct way.
After that u have to upgrade your vocabulary. How, reading is the best thing. Start with ladybird for children. Then you can test ur listening and understanding skill thru video clip or listening to movies. Try to avoid subtitle in your own language. Go for english sub. At least u can compare note. Then you have to brave yourself in the conversation with other people. Don't worry about your grammar. It will come naturally. The more you read the better your grammar will be.

if u need an advice on how to speak fluently, i guess the only way is to force yourself in speaking more of this language.
i'm sure that it will solve everything in time.
but remember, everything has its own process. you can't expect yourself to be fluent just in a matter of days. you need to get use to the language, until you don't think while you talk.. when you can do this, everything will go naturally.
cheers!

Watch western movie, dont used subtitle, and repeat the movie about 3 times.. helping you better ,u will gain a lot, otherwise if u have a lot of money... u can take a short term duration english course in Aus or Singapore they will come from world wide, but remember u ll not only speak ..u must watch ur accent! we speak as profesional..not beginer .so try to be pro, even me i got a very bad written but infact as speaking i got a talent.every body ever met me will say my english so hillarious..
my secret only think im a american,im not indonesian, so no need to be translate from english to indonesian, speak what u want and automaticly translating.
i was working a part time job in singapore and have communicated with all people around world,if i have free time i will go to 7eleven to speak with the assistant.
just be ur self, confidence! is a must ,

when you're speaking indonesian, you're thinking in indonesian, thats the thing.
the point is you have to think in english!
the first point you have to had is your brain as a database to alter as many words in indonesian to english.
i know this one sounds hard, but you know what? i've learned my english from just a GAME! final fantasy VIII.
its nothing like you have to memorize the whole dictionary whichever you know, you can translate some words that people used commonly in daily life.
when you've built up your vocabulary as your base, the next step is just try to make a game in your mind, what is it? just make a conversation with yourself; the 1st person is yourself in english, and the sparring partner is your mind in indonesian.
this is really helpful!
it works good because you'll keep telling yourself that you are an english speaker and you WILL be one someday!
the most important thing is just practice!
don't be shy to speak even if in the beginning you'll look like a fool talking to yourself/mirror.
don't bother with what people say, they don't even care with your progress anyway...
i hope this can help you. ^_^
happy practicing!

well...i guess you should try to talk with native or someone in english...what i mean here is that u should practice orally....it just a matter of time until u become perfect on english....i wasn't good at english before....but since i'm mixed with a lot of native speaker (british) then in the end naturally i can speak english like the way i speak indonesia... i know it's hard at first time....but after a while it just come naturally... remember one thing at first don't worry about grammar or making a mistake...it's humanly to make a mistake especially english is not our mother languange.... after all practice make perfect i guess...
