Steve Kell from Gunflash Magazine provides the view from the Emirates as Arsenal prepare for the visit of Liverpool.
Liverpoolfc.tv: Are you feeling confident ahead of Sunday's clash?
Steve Kell: I would be fairly confident if we were in better form, but it's November and for some reason we always struggle at this time of year. It could be down to Wenger's pre-season training because our dip in physical sharpness is an annual event. We have been crucified in the press this year for not being able to break down defensive teams and being caught on the counter attack. My view is we haven't struggled to break teams down, we've just not been taking chances.
Which Arsenal players should we keep an eye on?
There are the obvious ones like Henry and Van Persie, but I am going to say Hleb and Rosicky. They have created a great partnership this season and both possess outrageous skills. And with Fabregas and Gilberto in the mix we have one of the best midfields I have seen at Arsenal. Plus I'm still not convinced Rosicky isn't Harry Potter without the glasses!
Who will the Gunners be worried about?
With your policy of changing the team so often I don't really know, but there are obvious ones like Gerrard, if he has his head straight. You're also dangerous from set pieces because of your height - you probably have the tallest players in the Premiership. Jermaine Pennant will have something to prove to Arsenal and I am sure he will try to have the game of his life if he plays.
If you could pinch three Liverpool players, who would you take and why?
The first is boring and I'm sure you get it all the time, but I would take Gerrard for his leadership qualities. He is what we lack at this moment in time. Second would be your old warhorse Sami Hyypia. He has been with you a long time now and is at the wrong end of his career, but he has done a great job for you and I would have loved to have seen him play for Arsenal, especially a few years ago. Thirdly it would be Jermaine Pennant. I saw this guy play a lot and I just love his skills.
What are your weaknesses?
Our weaknesses are also our strengths depending on form. We try to pass the ball into the net instead of sometimes taking an earlier chance, but when we are playing well the system works brilliantly. Maybe that's why Robin Van Persie is a natural starter because he will shoot from anywhere and just gives us a different dimension.
What do you make of the current Liverpool side?
Liverpool have a side that makes you scratch your head wondering what you're going to get from one day to another. When I see the fixture list at weekends I usually go through them and in my mind work out what the result will be. I am just never sure what you are going to do. That's the best way I can sum you up really. Home form good, away form very indifferent.

Rafa Benitez talks to liverpoolfc.tv as his players prepare for their first visit to the Emirates Stadium.
What's the state of play with Momo Sissoko?
He'll have an operation and we'll lose the player for three months. Maybe after the operation the surgeon will say two months, but normally it's three. It's clear he is a key player for us. When you need a physical approach to the game you can use him. Everyone knows how comfortable Stevie or Xabi are when they play with Momo. Now they need to do the job in the middle – maybe Gerrard, maybe Zenden. Both can play in this position with Xabi. It depends on the game.
I suppose it couldn't have come at a worse time going into such a big game with Arsenal?
Yes. Momo had four yellow cards and that's why we tried to protect him against Reading. We said we'll see him against Arsenal. It's the worst game for this to happen because Arsenal play a lot of short passes in the middle and Momo was a key player for us.
Arsenal have seemed to struggle so far at the Emirates though?
It's clear that the scores they've had in the new stadium are not the best, but I have been watching videos and they are playing well. They are creating a lot of chances. If they are not scoring goals it's because sometimes you have bad luck. Against CSKA Moscow it was unbelievable the amount of chances they had.
Changing the subject, are you surprised that reports about your future have again surfaced?
I was talking to my agent and he explained to me what the journalist asked him. It was a website. The journalist said the Italian league is good, my agent said it's fantastic. The journalist asked if Rafa could manage there, my agent said I am a good manager. After this they started changing words and at the end of the day you are in jail! I'm really happy here and I'm not thinking about another club. I am thinking about winning a lot of trophies with Liverpool.
Do you have any sympathy for Arsene Wenger with what's happened over the last seven days?
It's a bad situation and it's not easy because I do not know everything about the problems. It's clear the managers must show respect for other people because there are a lot of supporters and a lot of people around the game. If you can set an example, that's important, especially for the kids who are trying to learn things. But sometimes you cannot control your temper.
But don't fans want to see passion from their manager?
It's a passionate game but as a manager you have a responsibility. You can have passion, but after you must be polite. If a manager starts shouting and jumping, the supporters can get excited and you can have problems. You can't always stay calm and if it's an important game you must celebrate, but you need to control the emotions because there are a lot of people around and especially a lot of children. When I was a teacher in a school I remember a footballer scored a goal and went to the corner to kick the flag. After that I saw children in the school kicking the flag.
Is it important for you that your players are role models?
You want to win, but you want to win doing the right things. Sometimes when you play against other teams and you know they are tricking all the time and cheating, it's not easy. Sometimes I think we are too nice. We try to be good with the referee and the opponents. For this reason I think the video is important after the game. Then you can see the people who are cheating, and you can see the things the referee cannot control. Then the players would not dive, and maybe then the managers would be quiet.
Do you feel referees are given too much profile in the English game?
I know from experience in Spain that referees there can't talk in the press. The manager of the referees doesn't allow it. If the referee needs to explain every decision you would need two or three hours after a game. The most important thing is to help the referees. For me, video after the game is one option. I have a lot of clips of players diving from when we've played some teams, you might know who some of them are. Afterwards you could see this and then maybe players wouldn't dive in the box.
Moving on, if we'd said to you before the season that your team would not have scored an away goal in open play in the Premiership by November, you'd have said we were crazy?
I have a lot of respect for you people and I wouldn't say to you these things, but it's clear that it's unbelievable that we haven't scored more goals for the number of away games we've had. But you know, we scored four goals against Reading in the Carling Cup and now we are scoring in all the games.
A word on Craig Bellamy Rafa, how is his confidence after missing the penalty against Birmingham in midweek?
I say to him the same thing as I said to the rest of the players when we were not scoring goals and winning games. I said listen, we are professionals, and if you want to change something, you can't talk. You need to work harder and show people that you are good enough on the pitch. Next time he is in a position to try something, he must try. Otherwise he will not change anything.

Liverpool Kok Begini?
Salomo Sihombing - detikSport
Kesimpulannya, Liverpool terlalu banyak masalah.
Arsenal Bekuk Liverpool 3-0
Mohammad Yanuar Firdaus - detikSport
Tambahan tiga angka membuat The Gunners merangsek naik ke jajaran tiga besar.
Kondisi berbeda dialami Liverpool. Sebuah catatan yang mengkhawatirkan mengingat ambisi awal The Reds adalah minimal mengisi posisi runner up.
Liverpool tertekan
Arsenal langsung menekan sejak menit pertama.
Memasuki pertengahan babak pertama, kedua tim mulai erlihat sama kuat.
Arsenal pun unggul 1-0 hingga masa turun minum.
Memasuki babak kedua, keunggulan Arsenal bertambah.
Sepuluh menit menjelang pertandingan usai, Arsenal kembali memperbesar keunggulannya.
Susunan Pemain:
Arsenal: Arsenal: Almunia, Eboue, Toure, Gallas, Clichy, Hleb, Silva, Fabregas, Flamini, Van Persie (Adebayor 85), Henry.
Liverpool: Reina, Finnan, Hyypia (Agger 82), Carragher, Riise, Gerrard, Alonso, Zenden, Gonzalez (Pennant 61), Crouch (Bellamy 71), Kuyt.

Dirk Kuyt has told his Dutch teammates they must stop Steven Gerrard to stand any chance against England on Wednesday – and he declared the Liverpool skipper the best he's played with.
Kuyt confessed he didn't realise how good Gerrard was prior to his arrival at Anfield in the summer.
"I have never played with a better player than Gerrard," said the Dutchman ahead of the midweek friendly in Amsterdam.
"I knew he was a good player before I came to Liverpool, but it is only when you work alongside him every day that you realise just how great he really is.
"He has everything in his game and to play alongside him is a great feeling. When Holland play England he is the player we must stop – but I am sure the coach knows that already.
"I am told his form this year is not as good as it was last year, but that is normal.
"His problem is that he was so incredible last season that opponents are now keeping an even closer eye on him and sometimes he has two defenders to attack.
"The thing with Stevie is that even when he's not at his best, he still brings so much to the team."
Kuyt also revealed Gerrard has been a major factor in his settling so well on Merseyside.
He said: "It isn't just the influence he has on the pitch that makes him so special. I know from experience that he is a great captain.
"Steven is one of the reasons I have settled down so well at the club – on and off the pitch.
"He has been there to show me all the way. He took time to tell me all about Liverpool, about what is expected of the players and about the history of the club.
"I can tell he has a real passion for football."

Giliran Reina yang Disemprot Riise
Kris Fathoni W - detikSport
Liverpool - Tanda-tanda krisis internal di tubuh Liverpool mulai merebak. Saling kritik antar pemain pun tak terelakkan menyusul kekalahan telak 0-3 atas Arsenal.

Rafa Mulai Frustasi
Andi Abdullah Sururi - detikSport
London - Beberapa pemain Liverpool telah mengekspresikan nada frustasi atas performa tim mereka. Sang pelatih, Rafa Benitez, pun mulai memperlihatkan gejala serupa. Bagaimana ini?
Setelah ditaklukkan Arsenal 0-2 minggu lalu, The Reds kembali gagal meraih angka penuh saat bertandang ke markas Middlesbrough, Sabtu (18/11/2006). Steven Gerrard dkk ditahan imbang tanpa gol.
"Tentu saja saya merasa kami pantas menang.

Cedera Pemain Pusingkan Benitez
Reky Herling Kalumata - detikSport
AFP
"Saya senang melihat Steve (Gerrard) mencetak gol lagi. (key/a2s)

Crouch Targetkan 20 Gol Meliyanti Setyorini - detikSport
BBC

RAFA EXCITED BY INVESTMENT NEWS
Paul Eaton in Istanbul 04 December 2006
Rafael Benitez today admitted he was excited about Liverpool's future after the club confirmed they were in discussions with Dubai International Capital about a possible investment in the club.
Benitez is concentrating all his efforts on preparing his team for Wednesday night's Champions League clash at the Ataturk Stadium, but he admits today's developments on the search for investment have been a pleasing distraction.
Benitez said: "I have talked to the chairman (David Moores) and chief
executive (Rick Parry) about this and I was pleased with what I heard.
"At the moment I only really want to concentrate on the match here, but of course it is always good for a club to have more money and more possibilities.
"For now we are trying to be focused about the game, we will have plenty of time to talk about such things in the future."
Liverpool's immediate future centres on tomorrow night's game in Istanbul - at the scene of their heroic Champions League final success in May 2005.
With qualification for the last sixteen of this year's competition already secured there's less pressure on the Reds this time around, but Benitez is hoping the young players he has included in his squad will take inspiration from the last time Liverpool visited this city.
He said: "I was delighted with the motivation of my team here 18 months ago and I have always believed that we can go on and achieve more trophies together.
"We can do it, we can win more things together. We have the quality and the right mentality for it. The hunger is still there.
"For me the final was the best day of my football life, and I want the fact that the youngsters are playing here to be an inspiration.
"If they can just talk to the senior lads, see what they achieved, I believe that is an example that could see the beginning of something new from the young players who will follow."
PART 1: DUDEK ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS
Paul Eaton 04 December 2006
On the eve of our return to Istanbul, we ask Champions League hero Jerzy Dudek a selection of questions submitted by fans on Liverpoolfc.tv.
How does it feel to know that every Liverpool fan will forever think of you as a hero and a legend after what you did in Istanbul?
It feels good but I think we all deserve to be in their memories because it was a fantastic game for all of us, not just for me. Of course at the end when we had to find victory through penalties, it was only in the goalkeeper’s hands. Fortunately for me it was my day, my fortune. We all deserved the success because without scoring three goals we wouldn’t have been there and I wouldn’t have been given the chance to save that famous Shevchenko penalty.
Fans have said that when you made that save it was the greatest moment of their lives - was it the greatest moment of your life?
Yes, definitely, there is no question about that. It was fantastic and really, really full of emotion. When I came back to Poland my wife met me because she couldn’t be there and then we watched a video on the big screen with all of my friends, I think about 50 of them. Then after the game they went to my village to find my parents and say thank you to them. I have seen this video afterwards and I felt really emotional that people felt the same. Fantastic!
Talking of penalties, how do you know which way the striker is going to hit the ball before they take the kick?
People always say it’s down to fortune at the end, a big lottery. You could say that of course because you have to be in the right time at the right moment, but I try to make my reaction as slow as I can. I don’t want to go to the ground too quick because I know from experience that the strikers always look at the goalkeepers and always wait until the keepers make movements and then after a few seconds put the ball in the opposite corner. That’s why I was just waiting and waiting in Istanbul. People were saying I went off my line, which isn’t good, but the striker is waiting and I’m waiting. I try to wait until the very last second before the striker hits the ball. I think if you wait until the last second you have more chance of saving it.
After what you achieved in Istanbul how disappointed have you been to since to lose your first team place?
I knew that it would be difficult for me, even after that fantastic moment, because of all the speculation before the final that Rafa Benitez wanted to bring in a new goalkeeper and I was more or less preparing for this. After this moment, nothing can disappoint me to be honest because I was so happy to win it at the end. I got injured of course and had a lot of problems where I was out for 3 months and couldn’t even fight for my place, and at the end I landed on the bench but I’ve never been disappointed. When you play for Liverpool you can’t be disappointed, even if sometimes you play as a second goalkeeper. I try to stay positive which is not always easy but this is a fantastic opportunity for everybody to have good experience at the club.
How determined are you now in every training session to try to impress the manager and give him a selection problem?
I’m very determined. I’m working very hard to impress the manager, especially when I know I will be involved. The manager gives the squad just before the game so you never know when he will use you for the first team. I try to do my best and the manager has already said he is happy with me. I’m professional enough to realise what he wants and what the lads think about me, there’s nothing wrong with that.
What’s your relationship like with Pepe Reina?
Very good, he’s a very nice lad. We share rooms all the time at away games and teach each other more and more all the time. I have a very good relationship with Pepe.
Do you think you will still be a Liverpool player next season and do you want to stay here?
I’ve always wanted to stay in Liverpool, everything is perfect at the moment. My family are very well, I’ve sent my son to an English school and I think he’s happy. In the end it’s all about playing football, not watching football. I can’t promise anything about this. I wish to stay here until the end of my career but if I’m not playing then it’s not what I want. As a player you want to play and at the end of this year it will have been one hell of a year because I’m not playing regularly. It’s not the best feeling to be honest, I just try to take every opportunity I get to play games. I cannot answer this because you never know in football. One week can change everything but I still have a contract until the end of the season and then we’ll decide. Rafa Benitez was asking if I would be able to sign for another year but I have to think whether it would be better for the future.
Is it a big frustration that you’re not playing as regularly as you would like?
To be honest I always try to stay happy, I’m used to it. At the beginning it was very frustrating for me, the first couple of months. Fortunately there was the World Cup and I was very determined so I took every training opportunity as a chance to impress the manager and prepare myself for the World Cup. I wasn’t able to play in the World Cup but I was just happy to be motivated and now I am just doing my job. I know what to do, just try to be fit. I feel very well and just need to keep going with this.
What was the first word you said when you saved the penalty from Shevchenko?
Yesssssssssssss! I think everyone said the same! Everyone said those words and “we did it, we did it, we did it”. You can’t describe it actually, it was fantastic, a fantastic moment.
Have you spoken with Shevchenko since that moment?
Yes. I’ve spoken to Andrei twice and spoke to Jon Dahl Tomasson right after the game. I saw their faces and I said to them ‘you don’t have to worry about it because you won it last year. We didn’t and we need it much more than you need it.’ In the end it’s a big frustration for them but somebody needs to be the loser and somebody has to win, it was just fantastic to be on the winning side but you do have to think about them. Saying that, they won it the previous year against Juventus in Manchester, Shevchenko took the last penalty and beat the goalkeeper but he couldn’t beat me and that’s what gave us the glory. I think we all understand that and this is fantastic. I remember Tomasson’s face after it, he wanted to punch me. We played together for 4 years and he couldn’t believe that he’d lost. That was great, really fantastic.
How many times have you watched the video of that final?
I only watch the penalties. In the holidays straight after the final we had a game with the national team and I said I don’t want to see anyone, I just want to focus on this game but it was impossible. Everybody was asking about the final and the coach came to me and said “Jerzy please, just switch off and don’t answer any questions about the game. Let’s play this game and then you can enjoy your celebration for as long as you want’. I did it. We won it 3-0 in Azerbaijan and it was fantastic.

RAFA: WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE
Paul Eaton 15 December 2006
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is already licking his lips in anticipation of facing Barcelona in the last sixteen of the Champions League early next year.
Benitez admits today's draw in Nyon could have been kinder to his side, but he is confident his players will be fully prepared to face the defending champions when the games come around.
He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We know they are a good team. At the moment they are playing in Japan in the World Club Championships and everybody is saying really good things about them.
"They won the Champions League last season and so it is a difficult draw for us but we have two months to prepare for these games and we have nothing to lose.
"Everybody says Barcelona are one of the best sides in the world so we have to upset the situation. We have to be mentally ready to play against very good players.
"It is too soon to start talking about individual battles. We are looking forward to the games and we will play them with confidence.
"I have experience of playing at the Nou Camp with Valencia and we did quite well there. Hopefully we'll do well again."
Liverpool will travel to Spain for the first leg before welcoming Barcelona to Merseyside two weeks later and Benitez believes playing the second leg at a packed Anfield could work to his side's advantage.
"The main thing for us is we know we'll play the second game at Anfield. This could be an important factor for us," he added.
"It's an amazing atmosphere in our stadium when we play in Europe, and we know how good our fans are at putting pressure on other teams.
"But I know it will be the first game which can make things possible for us. Last season we paid because we lost a late goal in Benfica and that cost us in the second leg."

Liverpool's 3-nil win at Vicarage Road on Saturday might have restored some pride to supporters after two demoralising cup defeats to Arsenal last week but for Jamie Carragher, next weekends clash with Chelsea is the real big one.
While Liverpool have enjoyed Premiership success over the Gunners and beaten both Chelsea and Manchester United in knock-out competitions under Rafael Benitez, the Reds are still waiting for their first Premiership victory over the top two since the Spaniard arrived at Anfield.
However, with seven wins from their last eight Premiership fixtures, Carragher believes the time is right for this Liverpool team to finally prove to the world that there is no mental block when it comes to facing Chelsea and Manchester United in the league.
"We're probably the form team in the League at the moment and we've got to keep that going because in the next few weeks both Chelsea and United have got to come to Anfield," revealed the Liverpool Vice Captain. "I'd like to think we will be a lot closer to the top two after those games than we are now. They represent a big opportunity for us after what happened against Arsenal.
"Our record against the top teams isn't a good one, especially in the League. We know if we are going to win the title it's something we have to improve on. It is something we've got to get right over the next few years if we are to make that step up to become champions. I can't explain it. I don't think there is a big gap between us and Chelsea, United or Arsenal - and in the cup competitions over the last couple of years we have proved we can beat anyone.
"We beat Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final and last year's FA Cup semi-final and we also knocked United out of the FA Cup last season. So in the real one-off games we have done well. We know we can beat them on any given day.
"All the players are aware that our record in these games isn't that good, but there's no mental block or anything. Little things can decide the big matches and it's just unfortunate that we've been on the receiving end a few times over recent seasons. I don't want to make excuses for what happened against Arsenal, but I thought we were a bit unlucky in the first game and I am hoping that the second defeat was just a freak result.
"It's been a bad week for us, but we still have a lot to play for this season and it's no good crying about what happened. We had a bad start in the Premiership and maybe Manchester United and Chelsea are too far ahead of us for us to be involved in the title this season. I think we are a better team now than we were last year, but the League table at the end of the season is what matters.
"And the games against United, Chelsea and Arsenal at Anfield will give us a better idea of how far we have come and what's still to be done. We can't let our heads drop. We want to make sure that we don't finish any lower than third in the Premiership.
"There is also two massive games to look forward to in the Champions League against Barcelona. It is going to be very tough for us to go through because they are the European champions and a great team, but we've been in these situations before. If we can get past Barcelona then we'd have a great chance in that competition. It would be great to give the fans something to shout about again after what they went through against Arsenal."
