I love the friendship/hospitality in indonesia. I want to be proud of it, but somehow I can't. I had couple bad experience with SARA, just because I have chinese ethnicity, it doesn't mean those people (back there in the past) can treat me like SH*T, bullying me mentally and physically. I speak indonesian as my first language like them, eat rice like them, goes to school like them. What makes them think they can treat us like this?

I don't hate indonesia, It's just these racist people prevent me to love indonesia as I supposed to be.

actually i also love this country like you all guys do. but i hate some of the people who make a different situation for another guys with different tribe. yes i mean SARA. i got some scold like vboy got. but some of our people also are kind man.
with our government i hate rats who hide behind the big chair and spend our money.

i was proud to be an indonesian citizen when i was very young long long itme ago. but as i grew up and seeing the conditions like these, i'm not anymore. what has become of our country and government, especially in the legislative region. are they really helping us the mid & low level class income citizens or are they just wanting the big income they are getting there as a legislative council? i really wonder and i can't get the answer. why can't they be patriotic abt their jobs? so am i proud to be indonesian? i think not anymore, until i see some dramatic changes for the better.

I'm only an Imigrant. Sorry, but I'm Chinese and to be honest, we haven't been treated well. Some scandals from only some people have given us bad name for majority of people.

But I love this country very much. I am not lying that sometimes in special events when I am in a crowd singing anthems my whole body is shaking hard and I really feel like crying.

From the deepest of my heart, this is the truth, I will do my best for Indonesia, I never give up with my faith that one day, this country will be one of the world's great.

...well i've read all the reply, and i think i'm a little too late to say this (shame on me, lolz, why i didn't notice this thread at first)..and all i can say is..

i'm proud to be INDONESIAN

reason:
1) there is no such country that you can live with only $2 per day, yap i say $2, I my self can only have about Rp.50.000 -that's equal with $5 i think-per day (sometimes it reach 100k if it's my good day ), but i still can learn english, connect with internet, meet you guys here (thank GOD!)...in other country, with only $2 per day, you will die or relying only on social security (or JPS) for living
2) although (pardon my vocab. if it's wrong!) that we got soo many unemployed right now, but it is not the problems, the only problems is, those unemployed people don't have the guts to try any kind of jobs instead for being civil servants, (my self?..i'll do anything for living)
3) there's no such country except here where you can see and hear and experience a funny things everyday (look around you, lolz..you'll laugh everyday, make your day brigther.. )
4) with all the problems (corruption, crimes, drugs abusement, ect), i still can live here with my wife and 1 and a half children (one still in my wife's tummy, )
and most of all I love and proud of because it is my home country, for all of you that's not originally from this country (chineese, arabs, india etc) that had difficult time here, well i'm sorry boss, but it can happen everywhere not just in this country, and it is not Indonesia's fault, it is the system of Orde Baru faults who make separation of bumiputera and non-bumiputera, my self, I don't have anything against non-original Indonesian (when i was still at SMU and university, i have many friends with different background and i'm proud of it)

for this question "ask what you;ve done to your contry?" well why don't we started with "ask what you've done for yourself, instead of complaining and hate the world?, jobless? there are a lot of unused mineral water bottles to collect and sell (ashame for being "pemulung" well that's your problems i've been there, i had my "pemulung" days and i'm not ashame of it, i am proud that i still live now), problems with police? try not to violating the rules, problems with birocracy, government, etc? don't vote for them anymore.....that's simple bro and sis...simple!..go take a travel man, around Indonesia, you will love this country.....

"yes,, its near malaysia",, everytime when i say its near malaysia,, they say "ohh,, malaysia,, nice country",, they recognise malaysia better than indonesia,, its silly u knw,, indonesian is bigger than malay,, more beautiful than malay,, but why singapore and malay more famous than us?? like wicked_witch said,, " our government are suck" yes its true,, painful truth, but deep inside our mind, we knw, its true...

for the truth,, i dont want to stand on China's side,, but i have to say,, yes,, you can live in china with $2 or even less,,
mostly my lunch costs me for RMB 5,, or about Rp.5000 in indo,, and my dinner also same,, with that RMB 5,, u can get rice as much as u can,, u get 2 kind of vegetables and also dishes with any meat inside,,,
and u can get wi-fi facility for internet connection RMB 6 ( about Rp.6000) for 24 hours per day,, u can get anything here cheaper than indo,, sorry to say this,, but yes,, its true..
